Learn Through Play

The Sacramento Adventure Playground is an innovative branch of Fairytale Town located in South Sacramento, where children are invited to come learn through play. Children are encouraged to build moats, build using real wood and tools, and test the limits of their imaginations. Typically the playground is open to children ages 7+, but on Community Days children of all ages are welcome, which means that the Adventure Playground needs additional adult supervision. Volunteers must be 18 or older, and will help children learn, play, and build!

Bite of Reality (financial simulation)

CELI, Inc. is an organization dedicated to providing adults and teens with real-world job-readiness skills through training and resources. Join them for this year's "Bite of Reality" event, a hands-on simulation where participants face the realities of independent financial living. Teens and adults are given a fictional occupation, salary, spouse, family, debt, etc., and walk between table stations to purchase housing, transportation, food, and other necessities. Volunteers will work at these table stations, attempting to "upsale" the items, simulating social pressures that are a large part of financial decision making. Volunteers must be age 18+
