Walk for Wishes

Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wish of every child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition. Walk for Wishes is their annual 1K/5K community walk/run to fundraise for their cause! Many current and past Wish Kids come out to participate, paying it forward and sharing the magic they have experienced with others. Volunteers are needed for various jobs, ages 14 and up (14 & 15 year-olds must be accompanied by an adult). Come support this magical day!

Kids First is a counseling and family resource center with a goal of preventing child abuse and neglect, and building healthy families throughout Placer County. Their Roseville office is going to be getting some TLC with a painting makeover! Help them to create a warm and inviting space for families by lending a hand to paint the office! Come for half of the day, or stay the whole time. Ages 7+ welcome.

Glow for Gold Gala for Childhood Cancer

Fundraiser for Keaton Raphael Memorial, an organization that supports families affected by childhood cancer through informational resources, process guidance, financial assistance, and emotional support. This fundraiser is a semi-formal black-and-white evening including dinner, cocktails, and an auction. Volunteers may sign up for partial, 2-hour shifts, but the full shift is preferred. Dinner and snacks will be provided for all volunteers. Provide Childcare during Parenting Classes!

Kids First is a counseling and family resource center with a goal of preventing child abuse and neglect, and building healthy families throughout Placer County. Beginning on 8/31 and wrapping up on 11/16, they will be hosting parenting classes every Thursday night to provide parents with the skills and tools necessary to have healthy, happy families. Many parents are only able to attend these classes if childcare is provided, and Kids First needs help! Volunteers can help for just 1 class or for multiple. Volunteers will keep the children engaged while creating a safe and warm environment. If you are open to taking the lead in creating fun, educational activities for these wonderful kids while their parents are empowered to be the best parents they can be, sign up now!

Bag Drop for Community Food Drive

The Auburn Interfaith Food Closet is partnering with the Salvation Army to address the hunger needs of the Auburn community. Did you know there are 5,000 individuals who live in zip codes 95602 and 95603 who live at or below the federal poverty level? Volunteer as an individual or as part of a team of 3-6 people who will be assigned a route around Auburn to drop off empty bags. Empty bags will explain the program and request households to fill them, and will be picked up the following week by a separate group of volunteers. Their goal is to have 5000 homes participate!

Spark interest in science at a Family Science Night!

Volunteer to help develop the youth of Sacramento into problem solvers with Sierra Nevada Journeys, a non-profit that delivers innovative outdoor science-based education programs for youth to develop critical thinking skills and inspire natural resource stewardship. Volunteer to help at a Family Science Night of them from 5pm - 7pm; no training or expertise is required! Volunteers run science stations utilizing easy-to-follow curriculum that is provided. Home Improvements for a Disabled Veteran

Rebuilding Together Sacramento transforms the lives of low-income homeowners by improving the safety & health of their homes while revitalizing their communities. This project will be completed at the home of a disabled veteran and his wife, who are both seniors who have survived cancer, and need assistance with repairs and increasing accessibility to their home. Any skill level welcome, fencing and other construction skills highly desired. Building a wheelchair ramp, yard clean-up, fence repair, removal of an above-ground pool, and garage repair will all be part of the project. Lunch Saturday 12-1.

Volunteers must be age 16+, and be accompanied by adult if under 18.
