Provide Childcare during Parenting Classes!

Kids First is a counseling and family resource center with a goal of preventing child abuse and neglect, and building healthy families throughout Placer County. Beginning on 8/31 and wrapping up on 11/16, they will be hosting parenting classes every Thursday night to provide parents with the skills and tools necessary to have healthy, happy families. Many parents are only able to attend these classes if childcare is provided, and Kids First needs help! Volunteers can help for just 1 class or for multiple. Volunteers will keep the children engaged while creating a safe and warm environment. If you are open to taking the lead in creating fun, educational activities for these wonderful kids while their parents are empowered to be the best parents they can be, sign up now!

Volunteer to help develop the youth of Sacramento into problem solvers with Sierra Nevada Journeys, a non-profit that delivers innovative outdoor science-based education programs for youth to develop critical thinking skills and inspire natural resource stewardship. Volunteer to help at a Family Science Night of them from 5pm - 7pm; no training or expertise is required! Volunteers run science stations utilizing easy-to-follow curriculum that is provided. Holiday Sale Set Up for Young Women Recovering from Crises!

Mercy Multiplied is a nonprofit Christian residential program dedicated to helping young women break free from life-controlling behaviors and situations, including eating disorders, self-harm, drug and alcohol addictions, unplanned pregnancy, depression, sexual abuse, and sex trafficking. Each year they host a holiday sale to raise funds to celebrate Christmas with their residents and support their programs. This year, they need volunteers to help set up! 2017 Turkey Distribution

Every year Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services provides turkeys and Thanksgiving items to thousands of families in our region. For many recipients, they would not be able to have a holiday meal without this service. This year they estimate that they will serve 4,000 families in a single day -- which means they need a lot of help! Age 16 or 18+, depending on shift.

Holiday Food Sorting & Packing with the Salvation Army!

This year, Salvation Army Sacramento has a goal to assemble and distribute 2,500 food boxes for families in need in our community. This food helps families to enjoy the holidays in a way they may otherwise be unable to. They need volunteers to help every year to give children and their families a warm, happy holidays by sorting and boxing food donations. This is a great opportunity for large groups, accomodating up to 50 volunteers per shift. Age 15+ (under 18 must be accompanied by adult).
