Each year the Salvation Army distributes thousands of gifts to families who would otherwise be unable to give their children gifts during the holidays. Gift Wrapping with Healing Heroes

Healing Heroes Network is a nonprofit organization providing financial assistance to veterans injured in the line of duty. They will be benefitting from the proceeds of Barnes & Noble's Gift Wrapping services this holiday season, but are in need of volunteers to help wrap gifts! Volunteers under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.


Volunteers will work a 3 hour shift, and will be contacted after signing up to select a specific 3 hour time slot. Please pick one of the following days to help:

Set Up Santa's Toy Shop for Domestic Violence Survivors

Volunteers are needed to help set up "Santa's Shop" for Stand Up Placer, a local Domestic Violence Prevention & Shelter program. Clients will be able to attend and "shop" for gifts for their families. Volunteers will be taking inventory of donations, pricing the items, and organizing them. Donations are received on a rolling basis, so this is ongoing all week. Sign up below to be contacted with date and time preferences.

Accept Holiday Gift Donations for Children In Need

The Sacramento Children's Home is a comprehensive child & family service organization that has been providing services to the most vulnerable children and families in Sacramento for nearly 150 years. This year alone, they will provide support and services to over 6,200 children and 4,600 families; included in that support is the provision of holiday gifts for families who are unable to provide them to their children. They will be having an open donation center and need volunteers to help! Donations must be accepted, sorted, entered into the inventory system, and distributed to the correct program. Age 13+

Santa Land Gift Wrapping

Every year community members help make the holidays special by providing hundreds of gifts and necessities to the members of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Sacramento. They need your help to wrap all those gifts and get them organized to distribute. This is a great holiday project for families, companies, or service groups who want to give back and help out! Each volunteer is asked to bring a roll of wrapping paper, and fun holiday sweaters and accessories encouraged! Boys & Girls Club will provide Christmas cookies, holiday tunes and hot cocoa and cider for your enjoyment.

Distribute Angel Tree Toys & Food to Families in Need!

Come lend a hand at one of the biggest holiday distributions of the year! A perfect opportunity for large groups (up to 70 volunteers per shift), volunteers will help with distributing gifts and food to families being assisted through the Salvation Army Angel Tree program. By directing traffic, greeting families, loading toys and food, and helping to keep the event organized, volunteers will be giving hundreds of children the joy of the holidays. Age 15+. This is a fast-paced opportunity, please be prepared for a winter whirlwind of activity!

Volunteer at the Lilliput Families Toy Shop! Foster and kinship families will come to "shop" for the children in their homes. Volunteers will act as elves, helping them to select gifts, gift wrapping, and spreading holiday cheer. Age 13+

Be Santa's Helper at Stand Up Placer!

Stand Up Placer is a local domestic violence, assault, and trafficking prevention and shelter program that works to empower survivors and community. At "Santa's Shop," clients will be able to come and "shop" for gifts for their children. Helpers are needed to check clients in, collect vouchers, log toys and gifts, check clients and gifts out, and bring holiday cheer!

Empower Youth with Financial and Career Skills

Junior Achievement of Sacramento (JA)is dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their futures, and make smart academic and economic choices. At "JA In A Day" events, volunteers lead students through fun, hands-on activities 5-7 lessons back-to-back to fill a school day with information on work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. Volunteers must be age 18+ (16 with a parent), and must sign up two weeks in advance.

Bite of Reality (financial simulation)

CELI, Inc. is an organization dedicated to providing adults and teens with real-world job-readiness skills through training and resources. Join them for this year's "Bite of Reality" event, a hands-on simulation where participants face the realities of independent financial living. Teens and adults are given a fictional occupation, salary, spouse, family, debt, etc., and walk between table stations to purchase housing, transportation, food, and other necessities. Volunteers will work at these table stations, attempting to "upsale" the items, simulating social pressures that are a large part of financial decision making. Volunteers must be age 18+

Mercy Multiplied is a nonprofit Christian organization dedicated to helping young women break free from life-controlling behaviors and situations, including eating disorders, self-harm, drug and alcohol addictions, unplanned pregnancy, depression, sexual abuse, and sex trafficking. They are hosting a luncheon and need assistance in the kitchen. 2018 Crab Feed for Sacramento Children's Home

The Sacramento Children's Home runs a multitude of programs throughout Sacramento to support families and children. From family resource centers to emergency childcare, SCH has been helping children in Sacramento for 150 years. Their annual Crab Feed has been a wonderful way for the community to support this organization over the years, and each year is a success because of the volunteers who donate their time.
